Welcome to Primetime Television
Posted in Current Events, Humor on 04/12/2011 01:30 am by DJ FujiQuick post tonight… thought I’d pass this along to you guys. The TV show Family Guy just aired an episode called “Tiegs for Two” that’s unmistakably about PUAs. They also managed to simultaneously insult Michael J Fox, the entire Parkinson’s Disease community, Chinese people, Black people, Street Fighter II, fat chicks, polish people, and a whole host of other groups. Interestingly enough, they insinuate that the worst thing someone can be called is “Polish.” Given that it was thrown as an insult to the “instructor” on the show, I’m curious if that was an intentional jab at one of the only polish “gurus” in the scene.
In either case, overall one of the funniest episodes they’ve ever aired. It wasn’t terribly accurate with its portrayal of this community, but that’s the point — it’s a comedy, not a documentary. And as a parody, it definitely succeeds.
And at the risk of yet another Street Fighter-inspired post, they also paid homage to the game that started it all. Good stuff.
You can watch the episode online by clicking on any of the images or by going here.
P.S. I’ve just launched the forums at http://www.taoofdjfuji.com/forum. From now on, my other instructors and I will be be answering all questions there. Feel free to create an account and join in on the discussion. Current VIP coaching members will also have access to the private forum which we’ll be using for additional coaching resources and curriculum.

Forum was a great idea. Membership is going to kick ass.

I agree. Having your own forum is a great idea. Does being a past member give me access to it? Will check out the episodes.

Right now the forums are setup for active members of specific programs, but I might setup an “alumni” section for boot camp and coaching alumni.

Let’s be honest, it wouldn’t be family guy if it didn’t insult a few million people now would it
.

haha, That episode was champion.
It’s so weird, even though I, and none of us, I guess, use those tactics anymore, it still puts mem on edge to see the community on such mainstream media.
It makes no difference in clubs but it always makes me feel a bit on edge, why is that?

It’s temporary, man. It used to bother me but it doesn’t anymore. A lot of it is not being ashamed of hitting on girls anymore. My attitude used to be, “i’d never hit on a girl overtly because she wouldn’t like me if I did.” That attitude has been replaced more with a, “Yeah i’m hitting on you… right in front of your mom. And you LOVE IT.”
Of course there’s still a stigma attached to being involved in the community, but the vast majority of girls can’t tell the difference between a guy hitting on them and a guy who’s studying game and hitting on them. Hell, even *I* can’t tell the difference sometimes. It has to be really obvious (e.g., he’s really bad at it and he’s using stock material). But if he’s good, I can’t tell. I have natural friends that you’d SWEAR are running game but they have no idea the community even exists.
