Americas Tour, NYC Whole Foods, & Free Videos of My Lecture
Posted in General on 09/17/2009 03:33 am by DJ FujiPosting From: NYC
Got into NYC last night and witnessed the busiest Whole Foods I’ve EVER seen. 3 floors, probably 350 people, 50-some checkout registers, and a cashier who told me, “oh this is light for us, usually we have people outside waiting in line to come in.”

Recession my ass.
NYC is my 3rd stop so far on the nationwide tour. First stop was Sacramento, followed by DC. I love Sacramento. Well, let me clarify. I love the city’s airport internet.

That’s 12 MEGABIT UP/DOWN AIRPORT WIFI right there. Awesomeness. I should have downloaded a ton of porn or something.

Ain't so big after all...
After Sacramento I flew to DC for a gnarley lair talk and training. DC’s got a great lair that’s always really supportive. Big shout to Dare, Clorox, the boys from Professional Pickup, and all the lair guys for all the hospitality and help setting things up last minute.
I’m trying out a new thing with lairs for a while. Instead of preparing a short lecture specifically for lairs, I’m holding one of the highly-acclaimed “Core Fundamentals” workshops and letting the entire local lair come to the first day for free. That way people will get a ton of free value, a taste of what my workshop is like, and I won’t have to talk about the same thing twice.
The first day covers introductions, the basic formula for success (also featured in my 2-hour, recently-released 21 convention speech), the secrets behind setting goals and achieving them, and tons and tons of drills. It’s an intensive day packed with information and exercises designed to give you the skills to succeed. The second and third days cover things like in-depth opening subcommunication, qualification (if you think qualification means getting investment and asking questions like “what do you have going for you besides your looks, you’re wrong — watch the video), sexual escalation, day2s, lifestyle design, inner game, body language, and much, MUCH more. I have trouble fitting it into 20-30 hours of instruction.
If you’re in a major U.S. city and I haven’t done a lair talk in your area, contact your local lair and have them request me. I’ll try to fit in as many cities as I can during my sept-oct nationwide tour.
I also wanted to let you guys know that my recent 21 convention speech has now been posted online in high definition, streaming video. Almost 2 hours of content, absolutely free thanks to Dream’s awesome efforts. All I’m going to say is that I’m glad I’m not getting his web hosting bill.
I watched the footage the other day and was actually pleasantly surprised that the camera only added 5 lbs and not the normal 10 or 20.
And the best part was that one of the comments was from a guy who said that my hair was ‘annoying’ and that he scrolled down so that he didn’t have to see it. My hair stylist was SO hurt.
I’m now teaching in NYC for the week and contemplating where my next stop is going to be. If you have suggestions, contact me and let me know. And don’t say Boston. That place is like satan’s asshole. Not a chance.
I have almost no availability in NYC for training, but if anyone’s interested, shoot me an email and I may be able to squeeze you in. No promises though.

hi DJ Fuji,
lol about how many pounds the camera added, aren’t I supposed to be the one worrying about that?
I’m going to email you also. Sounds like you’re doing quite the tour!

I just saw this talk and Ratisse’ talk and I have a question about ejecting from conversations, because I see a method conflict.
Fuji makes the point that you should maximize your interactions by staying in them until you are asked to leave but not just when your audience shows disinterest.
On the other hand Ratisse describes a strategy for working bars/clubs/parties where you have short conversations with a good chunk of the people you are not ‘targeting’ . Then while the groups are comfortable, you try and pull away your target. AFC Adam describes something similar, except Ratisse even tries to treat individuals as groups as well. That’s a subtlety.
So is premature ejecltion so bad? You leave so you go on talking to other people. I was at a club last night practicing these quick conversations, but it was before seeing either of the talks and I ended up feeling I didn’t build enough rapport/comfort with them. The groups were too cohesive for me to just break people out of them. I admit I didn’t try to pull them away; instead I just found opportunities where there were 3-sets so I could just get the 3rd person into a conversation alone.
I feel there is a wide rift between these two strategies. I see the pros/cons in each ( differences in rapport and differences in whether you look too needy ) , but could someone shed some light on unifying them with a common principle ?

Can you elaborate on Boston being “satan’s asshole”? As a resident, I’ tempted to agree, but I’m having trouble putting my finger on why, specifically.
11/03/2009 at 19:59
lol sure. Boston is what you get when you take every shitty aspect of each city and put them all together into one. Here’s what I mean:
1. Take DC’s shitty weather
2. Take California’s shitty 2am closing time for bars
3. Take Arkansas’s shitty afterparty scene
4. Take San Francisco’s shitty selection of HB5s
…and you get Boston!

Hahaha, so true! Damn it, I’ve got to move.

as a former resident of boston, i moved to san francisco. well, i liked boston cause lots of cuties in colleges…but its a very small town.
but man san francisco…is an anal whore’s asshole. i once saw a batchelorette party with ten one’s. One after the other…jeesus christ. and these bitches have attitude.
gotta get the fuck out of here.
